Indiana Pacers Preview 2021

Our Indiana Pacers preview 2021 notes that last season for just the second time in 11 years this team missed the postseason. In the 2020-2021 season, the Pacers (34-38) finished second in the Central Division and ninth in the East. In the Play-In Round, they beat the Hornets in Game One 144-117. However, Indiana was eliminated in the Game Two by Washington 142-115. Indiana always seems to have the potential to be in the mix. We find that this season will be no different.

Pacers Frontcourt

Of the three upfront positions, this team is richest at power forward. Our Indiana Pacers preview 2021 finds that Domantas Sabonis (20.3 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 6.7 APG) is one of the best and most consistent players in the paint. T.J. Warren, the team’s starting small forward, is an able backup at PF and consistent, accurate shooter. At center, Myles Turner, who was good for 12.6 PPG and 6.5 RPG, proved to be a powerful shot blocker. Turner averaged 3.4 BPG. Goga Bitadze, who has two years in the league, and rookie Isaiah Jackson offer minutes.

Last season, small forward Warren missed most of the season due to a stress fracture in his left foot. If Warren can return healthy and play the season, he’ll be a major asset, as he’s a plus-50 percent field-goal and plus-40 percent three-point shooter. Warren offers 20 PPG. Justin Holiday is an off-and-on shooter. However, he’s an amazingly durable player who can offer quality minutes for an entire season

Indiana Pacers Preview – Backcourt

Last season, point guard Malcolm Brogdon saw his point production top out at 21.2 PPG. His previous high was 16.5. Averaging 5.3 RPG and 5.9 APG, Brogdon was a game changer. He hit 45.3 percent of his field goals and 38.8 percent of his threes. Backup T.J. McConnell is exceptional off the bench. Last year, he competed 55.9 percent of his field goals and averaged 1.9 SPG.

If shooting guard Caris LeVert can stay healthy, he’ll be a star. However, in the past three years, he’s averaged 43.3 games per season. Last year, in the trade that sent James Harden to Brooklyn, LeVert came to the Pacers. During a routine physical, doctors found renal cell carcinoma in his left kidney. Surgery was successful, and LeVert made his Indiana debut on March 13. He went on to record the best points per game average of his career (20.7). Jeremy Lamb is good off the bench for plus-20 MPG. He’s a 40-percent plus shooter from the field and downtown.

Indiana Pacers Preview 2021 – Final Word

The Pacers have been through a few coaches lately. However, it’s thought that the recent Rick Carlisle (836-689) hire will have lasting power. Carlisle, who’s considered to be one of the game’s best strategists, formerly coached the Pacers from 2003-2007. After that, he went to Dallas, where he spent 13 years with the Mavs. In 2011, Carlisle guided the team to an NBA championship. Leaving Dallas at the end of last season, Carlisle found himself quickly employed. Our Indiana Pacers preview 2021 observes that this is a solid hire which should pay benefits for years to come.
