Our Kansas basketball preview 2021 - 22 observes that since the 1983-84 season, the Jayhawks have gone to the Big Dance all but one time. During that almost 40-year period, Kansas has won two National Championships. Their last one was in 2007-2008 under present coach Bill Self (522-118 Kansas/18 years, 729-223 Overall/28 years). Last season, the Kansas Jayhawks (21-9 Overall, 12-6 Big 12) finished second in the conference. In the tournament, they were eliminated in the Round of 32. This year Self is determined to guide the Jayhawks to another national title. The good news is he certainly has a team that has the potential to go deep.

Jayhawks Frontcourt

Six-foot-10 forward David McCormack, a 51.5 percent shooter, will be KU’s prime contributor upfront. Last season, he averaged 13.4 PPG and 6.1 RPG. Also in front, sophomore Jalen Wilson was good for 11.8 PPG and 7.9 RPG. He’s a solid field-goal and three-point shooter. Transfer Cam Martin (Missouri Southern State) brings excellent Division II shooting and rebounding chops. Freshman Zach Clemence adds versatility upfront and is another option for Self.

Kansas Basketball Preview – Backcourt

Transfer Remy Martin (Arizona State), who was First-Team All-Pac-12 last season, is a fine talent who can score and assist off the dribble. An accurate three-point shooter, last season Martin averaged 19.1 PPG and 3.7 APG. Ochai Agbaji and Christian Braun both return. Agbaji led the Jayhawks in scoring, averaging 14.1 PPG. Braun is a gritty rebounder who can hunt down loose balls and turn them into points. Transfers and freshmen add depth to the back.
