Georgia vs Alabama – Key Players

On offense, Alabama QB Bryce Young is a major star. He’s thrown 40 TD passes and just three picks. He has been sacked 33 times. Leading pass catcher Jameson Williams is a constant TD threat, and wideout John Metchie III and tight end Cameron Latu give the Crimson Tide receiving corps depth. Finally, Brian Robinson Jr. (1.016, 4.9 YPA, 14 TDs) is a premium running back. On defense, linebackers Will Anderson Jr. (85 TKLs, 14.5 SCKs, 2 PD) and deep back Jalyn Armour-Davis (4 PD, 3 INTs) are major forces.

Georgia QB Stetson Bennett is solid. He’s tossed 21 TD passes and just five interceptions. Bennett’s been sacked only five times. The Georgia running unit is deep and includes Zamir White (691 YDs, 5.4 AVG, 10 TDs) and James Cook (581 YDs, 6.5 AVG, 7 TDs). Tight end Brock Bowers leads all Bulldog receivers with 37 catches, 652 YDs, and 10 touchdowns. Also making important contributions to the air game are wide receivers Ladd McConkey and Jermaine Burton. On defense, linebacker Nakobe Dean (56 TKLs, 5 SCKs, 3 PD, 2 INTs, 1 TD) and deep backs Latavious Brini (8 PD) and Derion Kendrick (3 PD, 2 INTs) are difference makers.

Note, the Alabama O-line is problematic and could certainly be vulnerable today.

Edge: Alabama has a more dynamic passing game, while George commands the run. Still, both teams offer balanced offenses. As of late, it’s had a tough time holding its own versus the pass rush. Young is vulnerable to the sack. On defense, the Crimson Tide has some big stars, while the Bulldogs bring a very sound team of defenders to the turf. The Alabama offensive line could make the difference today. We give the Bulldogs the edge on D, and call the offenses even.

Georgia vs Alabama Prediction - Final Word

Alabama has the allure, while George has the defense and the thus far the perfect season. Last week, it took four OTs, an Auburn quarterback who could barely walk, and a determined Bama D to eke out a 24-22 victory. It should not have been that hard for the Tide to beat the Tigers. Thus, our Georgia vs Alabama prediction is the Bulldogs at -6.5 (-110). We also like the over at 49.0.
