Our Seattle Seahawks preview 2021 notes that since 2010, this team has made the postseason nine times. In that time, they’ve been to the Super Bowl three times, winning one. Last year, the Seahawks topped the NFC West with a record of 12-4. Unfortunately, they lost in the Wild Card game to the Rams 20-30. Although Seattle is led by one of the best quarterbacks in the league, they have numerous issues on both sides of the ball. Hence, we expect them to struggle this season.

Seahawks Offense

QB Russell Wilson (558 ATT, 384 COMP, 4,212 YDs, 40 TDs, 13 INTs) is savvy, durable, and tenacious. Last year, in the first half of the season, he played like an MVP. But then numerous turnovers, three losses, and Pete Carroll’s decision to reign in the offense reduced Wilson’s formerly escalating numbers and led to off-season frustration. The big challenge for this team is upfront. Although the Seahawks averaged 28.7 PPG, the line often put Wilson in jeopardy. The Seahawks allowed 48 sacks (T-27th). The problem is that close to nothing has been done to address this deficit.

Ironically, Seattle has a solid group of pass catchers. However, they won’t be effective if Wilson isn’t given enough time to throw to them. The wideouts include the dynamite duo of Tyler Lockett (100 REC, 1,054 YDs, 10.5 AVG, 10 TDs) and D.K. Metcalf (83 REC, 1,303 YDs, 15.7 AVG, 10 TDs). Plus, former Ram tight end Gerald Everett joins the team. He should be a major contributor. Chris Carson (141 ATT, 681 YDs, 4.8 AVG, 5 TDs) is the Seahawks’ primary running back.

Seattle Seahawks Preview – Defense

Although the Seahawk D was ranked fifth versus the run, they were 31st against the pass. The team recorded 47 sacks (7th) and 14 INTs (T-12th), while allowing 23.2 PPG. In some ways, the Seahawks excelled on this side of the ball. However, in other aspects, they were especially ineffective. Upfront, in the second half of the season, end Carlos Dunlap II (6 SCKs) proved to be a solid pass rusher and run stopper. Meanwhile, NT Nick Bellore is a tough defender and end Kerry Hyder Jr. (8.5 SCKs), who played for the Niners last season, brings sound edge-rushing chops.

Our Seattle Seahawks preview 2021 notes that Bobby Wagner (138 TKLs), who topped the team in tackles, is a premium MLB. On the outside, two young talents, Cody Barton and Jordyn Brooks, look to play fulltime. Both safety spots are manned by top-notch talents, Jamal Adams (9.5 SCKs) and Quandre Diggs (5 INTs). Corner D.J. Reed Jr. (6.5 SCKs, 2 INTs), who was picked up on waivers last season, is soundly consistent. Talented Tre Flowers works the other corner.

Seattle Seahawks Special Teams

The return spots are up in the air. We expect that Freddie Swain, D.J. Reed, and DeeJay Dallas will be given the chance to excel in this area. Placekicker Jason Meyers (49/53 XPs, 24/24 FGs), punter Michael Dickson, and long snapper Ott Tyler are all consistent.

Seattle Seahawks Preview 2021 – Final Word

Pete Carroll (122-71-1 Overall, 10-8 Postseason) starts his 12th season at the helm of the Seahawks. Carroll is one of the best in the NFL. Our Seattle Seahawks preview 2021 notes that this team has a lot of potential. However, a thin O-line could lead to their undoing.

NFC West Summary - Seattle Seahawks 2021:
