Minnesota Timberwolves Preview 2021

Our Minnesota Timberwolves preview 2021 finds that this team has been to the playoffs once in the last 17 years. That was in 2017 when they lost to the Rockets in the First Round four games to one. Last year, the Minnesota Timberwolves (23-49) finished fourth in the Northwest and 13th in the West. Unfortunately, the 2021-2022 season does not look anymore promising for this team than last season.

Timberwolves Frontcourt

Karl-Anthony Towns (24.8 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 4.5 APG) is a solid big man who can shoot, rebound, pass, and defend. Our Minnesota Timberwolves preview 2021 notes that he’s the top talent in front. Small forward Josh Okogie and power forward Jaden McDaniels subbed in last season. Okogie is an excellent defender while McDaniels brings a refined skill set to his position. Both look to move up and start this season.

Naz Reid, who’s worked hard to improve physically and is a tough grinder, can substitute at center or power forward. Additionally, in the paint, fourth-year big man Jarred Vanderbilt offers fine scoring and rebounding chops. Malik Beasley is especially versatile and can cover small forward and shooting guard handily.

Minnesota Timberwolves Preview – Backcourt

Six-year veteran D'Angelo Russell (19.0 PPG, 5.8 APG, 1.1 APG) is a fine player. He possesses the tools it takes to be an impact player. However, Russell, who came to the Wolves from the Warriors at a high price two seasons ago, has to prove his worth. Time is running out. Nine-year vet Patrick Beverley comes from the Clippers to provide relief in the form of points and assists.

Second-year shooting guard Anthony Edwards (19.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.1 SPG) is an excellent two-way player. Plus, Edwards is an exciting, explosive force on the court who can lift the team and crowd. He’s growing into the position quickly and could have a breakout season this year.

Minnesota Timberwolves Preview 2021 – Final Word

Last season, Chris Finch (16-25) became Minnesota’s head coach after Ryan Saunders was fired 31 games into the season. Finch became the fifth Minnesota Timberwolves coach in seven seasons and the 15th in 32 seasons overall. Our Minnesota Timberwolves preview 2021 notes that under Finch the Wolves improved on offense. At one point, they went 9-7. There’s hope for this team. The question is will owner Glen Taylor give Finch the time and resources he needs to get the job done?
