Our college football weekly picks includes Maryland vs Ohio State (October 9). Plus, we’re offering two early games, Temple vs Cincinnati and Stanford vs Arizona State. Both games will be played on Friday, October 8, 2021. Here’s how we see each contest playing out.

Maryland vs Ohio State Pick – Point Spread

Our featured game for this week offers two Big Ten teams, the Maryland Terrapins and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although the Terrapins are 4-1 overall, which includes a 20-17 conference win versus Illinois, they were hammered 51-14 last week by #5 Iowa. The #3 Buckeyes, who are also 4-1 and 2-0 in the conference, beat Rutgers last week 52-13. Plus, in their last three games, OSU has outscored opponents 50.6-to-13.3

Our Maryland vs Ohio State pick is the Buckeyes. You can find them at -21 with reduced juice at -101. That’s a great deal. If you take Maryland, you’ll be able to get them at +21 at the standard -110. Game time for this Saturday, October 9 contest is 12:00 pm ET. Be sure to make your wager early.

Temple vs Cincinnati Pick – Point Spread

Remember, unlike our Maryland vs Ohio State pick for Saturday, the next two projections are for games being played on Friday, October 8. The Temple Owls (3-2 Overall, 1-0 AAC) have played well as of late, winning their last two games. However, each of their three wins have been to very weak teams. The Owls’ two loses were to the Big Ten’s Rutgers (61-14) and to the ACC’s Boston College (28-3). Neither team is a powerhouse, but they are in Power Five conferences. Now Temple must face the #5 Cincinnati Bearcats (4-0 Overall, 2-0 AAC). The Bearcats are coming off two huge wins. The first, two weeks ago, was 38-24 over the Big Ten’s Indiana. Last week, Cincinnati defeated #9 Notre Dame, stunning them 24-13.

The Bearcats are a superior team. They have a defense that’s allowing opponents less than 15 PPG and an offense that’s capable of putting 50 points on the scoreboard. The Owl defense is giving up on average 30 PPG. We think this week the Cats will score 50 against them, while the Owls will put about 10 points on the scoreboard. Take Cincy at -29 (-110). If you like Temple, you will find them at +29 and with reduced juice at -103. Temple plays Cincinnati at 7:00 pm ET.

Stanford vs Arizona State Pick – Point Spread

This is another Friday night game. Stanford vs #22 Arizona State may look like a tough call. After all, the Cardinal beat #3 Oregon 31-24 in OT last week. Plus, they were victorious over #14 USC 42-28 a few weeks ago. But Stanford also fell to a weak Kansas squad 24-7 in Week 1, and in Week 3, the #24 UCLA Bruins beat them 35-24. On the other hand, the Sun Devils just played #20 UCLA and easily won 42-23. So, we don’t think this is that tough a call after all.

We like Arizona State. Note, you can find the Sun Devils at -11.5 (-118) or at -12 (-110). The Stanford Cardinal are at +12 (-110).

Final Thoughts - Maryland vs Ohio State Plus Two More

The point spread of -21 for the Maryland vs Ohio State game might look overwhelming to some. However, in mismatches, which we consider this game to be, it’s actually on the low side for a college football game. We like OSU a lot in this contest. Concerning the Temple vs Cincinnati game, the Owls are likely to be mauled by what is a powerful and aggressive Bearcat team. Finally, Stanford’s upset of Oregon last week was an anomaly. Look for the Pac-12 universe to right itself, as #22 ASU flexes its muscles at home and covers the spread.
