Dallas Stars Preview 2021
In 2019-20, this team made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals where they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning two games to four. Our Dallas Stars preview 2021 - 22 observes that last season this Texas team went 23-19-14 (60 points), finishing fifth in the Central and out of the playoffs. This season, the Central Division is very tough. It won’t be easy for the Stars to get into the postseason. However, we think they have a shot and will play up to form.
Stars - Key Skaters
With center Joe Pavelski and wings Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz on the first line, the Stars bring massive scoring potential to the ice. Pavelski offers fine moves and a great upside as a scorer and assist man. On the wing, Robertson is lightning fast and an armed shooter. Plus, there’s Hintz, who has big time scoring chops. Our Dallas Stars preview 2021 - 22 also finds that the trio brings fine defensive skills and excellent power play potential to the ice. On defense, 17-year veteran Ryan Suter and fourth-year player Miro Heiskanen are a fine duo.
Dallas Stars Preview 2021 – Goaltending
In goal, veteran Braden Holtby and rookie Jake Oettinger will contend for the starting spot. Holtby, who’s spent 10 of his previous 11 seasons with the Capitals, brings a career record of 289-133-49. Additionally, he has a 2.58 GAA and .915 SV%. Last season with Vancouver, Holtby, struggled. If he can find his old form again, Holtby can go a long way to making the Stars a contender. Although considered a rookie, last season Oettinger appeared in 29 games, starting 24. He was impressive, going 11-8-7 and post a 2.36 GAA and .911 SV%. He will vie for the top spot.
Dallas Stars Preview 2021 – Final Word
Age is a factor for the Stars. Head coach Rick Bowness, who came to the Stars two seasons ago after nine years of serving as a head coach for five other teams. Two of those clubs, the Senators and Islanders, fired him. In those nine seasons, Bowness guided one team, the Bruins, into the playoffs. In his first season with Dallas, the Stars went all the way to the Cup Finals. Our Dallas Stars preview 2021 - 22 observes that due to the number of aging players on this team, Bowness will have to ably manage the ice time of this group. We do find that Dallas will sneak into the postseason.
