Colorado Basketball Preview 2021
Our Colorado basketball preview 2021 - 22 notes that the Buffaloes have a solid chance of making it to the Big Dance a second straight time. Last year, after finishing third in the Pac-12, the Colorado Buffaloes (23-9 Overall, 14-6 Pac-12) beat Georgetown 96-73 in the first round. Unfortunately, they exited the tournament in the second round, as Florida State took them down 71-53. It was the first time they’d been to the NCAA Tournament in five years. Head coach Tad Boyle (233-143 Colorado/11 years, 285-185 Overall/14 years) is looking to build on what he’s done in his first 11 years at Colorado and get this program to the next level. Can he do that this season?
Buffaloes Frontcourt
Junior forward Evan Battey returns as Colorado’s top scorer (10.1 PPG) and rebounder (5.3 RPG). He’s also the team leader. Our Colorado basketball preview 2021 - 22 notes that for this team to succeed, Battey, who’s skilled, must play more consistent basketball. Last season, true freshmen Tristan da Silva and Jabari Walker showed true flashes of greatness. Expect to see more of each of them this season. Two top-100 prospects, Quincy Allen and Lawson Lovering, add depth to the front. Allen brings premium shooting chops to the floor. Lovering, a four-star, seven-foot center, has solid inside skills. However, he needs to bulk up.
Colorado Basketball Preview – Backcourt
Five guards return and four more, three freshmen recruits and one transfer, join the team. Eli Parquet, a junior returning starter, is a defensive force and capable shooter. Last season in limited action freshman Keeshawn Barthelemy often played well. However, he needs to find consistency. Transfer Mason Faulkner (Western Carolina) comes to the Buffaloes with premium skills and stats. In two seasons with WCU, he averaged 17.4 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 5.5 APG. The incoming class is talented with K.J. Simpson, who originally signed with Arizona, being the top recruit.
Colorado Basketball Preview 2021 – Final Word
Coach Boyle has amassed a fine recruiting class. Plus, he has some fine talent returning and a prime transfer. Our Colorado basketball preview 2021 - 22 likes what it sees. This team has the potential to once again play in the NCAA Tournament. That is, if the players who need to have breakthrough seasons and those who must step up and find consistency do so.
