Our Buffalo Bills preview 2021 sees this franchise as being the team to beat in the AFC East. Last season, after winning the division with a 13-3 record, the Bills beat the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 in the Wild Card game. Buffalo then took the divisional playoffs, taking down the Baltimore Ravens 17-3. However, the road to the Super Bowl came to an end when the Kansas City Chiefs were victorious over the Buffalo Bills 38-24. The Bills come to the 2021 season with one of the better offenses in the AFC. Additionally, overall, they are solid on D.

Bills Offense

The Bills found the answer to their quarterback dilemma in Josh Allen (572 ATT, 396 COMP, 4,544 YDs, 37 TDs, 10 INTs). Last season, Allen set seven team records, including pass completion percentage (69.2). Buffalo has a skilled veteran line, which is sound. Plus, with a look towards the future, they drafted three front men. The vets should ably protect Allen and open rushing lanes.

The two top wideouts from last season, Stefon Diggs (127 REC, 1,535 YDs, 12.1 AVG, 8 TDS) and Cole Beasley (82 REC, 967 YDs, 11.8 AVG, 4 TDS), return. Diggs topped the league in catches and receiving yards, while Beasley is one of the best slot receivers in the pros. In his rookie season last year, WR Gabriel Davis averaged 17.1 YPC and scored seven times. Veteran free agent Emmanuel Sanders joins the team to fill the gap left by John Brown. RBs Devin Singletary and Devin Moss totaled 1,168 yards and six TDs, while Allen rushed for eight scores.

Buffalo Bills Preview – Defense

In 2020, the Buffalo D had the 13th-ranked passing and 17th-ranked ground defense. Our Buffalo Bills preview 2021 observes that after last season the team focused on improving its line. As a result, to increase their pressure from the edges, they drafted Greg Rousseau and Carlos Basham and signed Panther free agent Efe Obada. Tackle Star Lotulelei, who opted out last season, returns. Jerry Hughes (4.5 SCKs), the best pass rusher on the team, is also back.

WLB Matt Milano is the glue of the linebacking unit. It’s hoped that talented MLB Tremaine Edmunds finally has a breakout season. A.J. Klein (5 SCKs), who joined the team last year as a backup, gets to start after leading the team in sacks. The secondary, which is the top group on this side of the ball, is led by corner Tre'Davious White. White topped the team last season with three picks. Additionally, he has garnered 15 interceptions in four seasons. Taron Johnson, who grabbed two pick sixes last year, returns at corner, while top safety Micah Hyde is ready to go.

Buffalo Bills Special Teams

As a rookie last season, kicker Tyler Bass did well. He hit 28-of-34 field goals and 57-of-59 extra points. Also, Bass recorded a 70.3 touchback rate on his kickoffs. Veteran punter Matt Haack replaces Corey Bojorquez. Although the kicking units look good, the return game is questionable. Ace return man Andre Roberts was lost to free agency. It will be tough to replace him.

Buffalo Bills Preview 2021 – Final Word

Last season, the Bill offense was second in scoring, third in passing yards, and first in kick returns. Head coach Sean McDermott (40-29 Overall, 2-3 Postseason), who’s in his fifth season at the helm, will want to see better performances from his 20th ranked rushing game and middling defense. Our Buffalo Bills preview 2021 expects that he will get it. Over his first four seasons, McDermott has slowly improved the team while creating stability and consistency. That effort could pay off in 2021.
