However, as the disappointing ASU season came to an end and they finished ninth with an 11-14 overall record and 7-10 Pac-12 mark, head coach Bobby Hurley (104-83 Arizona State/6 years, 146-103 Overall/8 years) was planning for the upcoming year. The result was an overhaul of the roster, as Hurley brought in nine new scholarship players, including three prime Division I guard transfers.

Sun Devils Frontcourt

Five-star recruit Canadian Enoch Boakye, a 255 pound, 6’10” center, is ready to play. Also returning are front men Kimani Lawrence (8.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG) and Marcus Bagley (10.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG). This is a sound four-man frontcourt rotation. Plus, junior college transfer Alonzo Gaffney, solid center, adds depth.

Arizona State Basketball Preview – Backcourt

Last year’s starting backcourt has moved on, as Remy Martin and Alonzo Verge Jr. transferred to Kansas and Nebraska respectively and Josh Christopher went to the NBA. Together, they averaged 47.4 percent. However, despite these losses, there’s a rich assortment of talent ready to play guard. Transfers include Mid-American Player of the Year Marreon Jackson (Toledo) and Boston College top scorer Jay Heath. Two other transfers, Luther Muhammad (Ohio State) and D.J. Horne (Illinois State), bring about 30 more points per game to the backcourt.
